NDIA OFFICAL RELEASE:
Can I buy additional assistive technology, electronics or equipment with my NDIS funding?

As a general rule your NDIS funding is for your disability-related needs. Daily living expenses like groceries, rent, bills (including internet charges) are a personal expense. You cannot use your NDIS funding to pay for day-to-day items.
During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic response, we are hearing about many innovative ways in which providers and Allied Health professionals are still providing services using telepractice or telehealth.
We encourage you to work with your provider to discuss your options and find solutions which are practical and effective.
If you don’t have a smart device, or other equipment that will help you get the NDIS supports and services you need, we encourage you to use your plan flexibly to purchase a device. That way you can stay connected to your providers.
Participants can use their NDIS funding to purchase low cost assistive technology items if:
the item will maintain the provision of other funded NDIS supports, and
the participant does not already have the item, another suitable item, or access to purchase the item through other means, and the item has not been funded by another service system such as education or health.

Love your little assistant WillWe are delighted to welcome Will, our Physiotherapist, offering home physiotherapy by using Telehealth.

Will has set-up telehealth as well using an app called Physiapp.
This app allows clients in self-isolation to still have Will call in and do some exercise (face-to-face), socialise and listen to his jokes whilst we are amidst this crisis. Within the app he can put together exercise programs and stream new exercises to people over the app. We have ordered stands for phones and iPad's to allow people to be hands free whilst doing exercises. We have also ordered some light hand weights and resistance bands to drop off to people to create ‘home gyms’.
